Terms of Use
Effective 20 August 2026
Short, because there is little to govern: you buy the app once, it runs on your devices, and your practice is yours.
1. Who provides Shoshin
Shoshin is provided by Nuancebit GmbH, Brahmsstraße 4, 37085 Göttingen, Germany (Amtsgericht Göttingen, HRB 207939; VAT ID DE458081235), represented by its managing director Cornelius Brosche ("we"). Contact: info@nuancebit.com. These terms apply to the Shoshin app for iPhone and Apple Watch. Where you downloaded Shoshin from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if these terms conflict with it, Apple's agreement prevails for App Store matters.
2. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Shoshin on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. Don't copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly allows it.
3. The purchase
Part of Shoshin is free, forever: your first path, the Empty Room, and every report. The whole path is a single one-time purchase — not a subscription. Payment, receipts, and refunds are handled entirely by Apple under their terms. You can restore the purchase on any device signed into your Apple Account, from inside the app. We will never lock you out of what you've paid for.
4. Not a medical device
Shoshin is a practice companion, not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose, treat, or monitor any health condition. Sensor readings — your breath, your heart rate — are reflections offered for your own practice, not measurements for medical use. If you have a health condition that meditation or breath practices could affect, talk to a medical professional first. Never use Shoshin as a substitute for medical care.
5. Your data
Shoshin stores your practice only on your devices — see the Privacy Policy. Because there is no account and no cloud copy, you are responsible for your own device backups; if you delete the app, your history is gone.
6. Warranty and liability
We build Shoshin carefully, but it is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health — or your statutory consumer rights and warranty claims. Otherwise, our liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical for an app of this kind.
7. Changes
If we materially change these terms, we'll update the effective date above before the change applies. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country you live in.
